Even though ads on TV are starting to talk about back-to-school shopping, there’s still plenty of time for a few summer activities, like a BBQ or pool party or whatever excuse you need to make paper crafted decorations, treat containers, or add a new home decor piece. And Pinterest has loads of ideas. Here are three to get you started.
Sunshine Printable
Bring a little sunshine inside with a free You Are My Sunshine download from Alderberry Hill. She’s provided a variety of font colors and two background options. The best part, just download, print, and frame for a quick home decor piece. Or, you can resize it using photo editing software and use it for a card sentiment. Your home will feel sunny in no time!
Fruit Basket
I love having fresh fruit, which is so readily available during the summer months. And BBQs are the perfect time to bring out the fruit, like strawberries, raspberries, cherries, and more. These cute Fruit Baskets made by Lia Griffith are perfect for displaying your fruits or for your guests to fill with their choice from the buffet. Lia made her baskets with grocery sacks, but you could use patterned paper to match your party’s theme.
Summer Fonts
Spiff up any project with a summer-time font. These free summer fonts shared by Food, Folks & Fun are definitely summery and fun! Use them to create card sentiments, on garlands or banners, for cupcake toppers (monogram letters), or to make a festive invitation.
July Simple Printables
In the July 2014 issue, we provided a variety of simple printables that have that wonderful summer theme going. Some are sentiments for cards, others are journaling cards (which also make great accents or sentiments for cards), and a few are icons. If you haven’t downloaded these, now is the perfect time. One of my favorites is the Soakin’ Up the Sun journaling card. It would be perfect as a home decor piece when enlarged and framed.
Well my friends, I hope you have a beautiful, summer day. Remember to fit a little crafting time into that busy schedule.
Have fun creating!
